Ahistoric moment that underscores the collaborative spirit between Morocco and Côte d’Ivoire, President Alassane Ouattara officially inaugurated the Cocody Bridge on Saturday. The remarkable cable-stayed structure, a towering 100 meters high and spanning 630 meters across Cocody Bay, represents not only a solution to urban mobility challenges but also a testament to the visionary leadership of HM King Mohammed VI and the close cooperation between the two nations.
This architectural marvel, the first of its kind in Côte d’Ivoire, has been named after President Alassane Ouattara, standing tall as a striking new symbol for the country’s economic capital. The bridge’s completion is part of the ambitious Cocody Bay development project, which aims to transform the city’s landscape and enhance its overall connectivity.
Marchica Med, the Moroccan state-owned company responsible for the project, played a pivotal role in realizing this milestone. It conducted the initial studies for the cable-stayed bridge and actively assisted the Ivorian government in securing the necessary financing. Moroccan Ambassador Abdelmalek Kettani and Marchica Med representatives joined the inauguration ceremony, reinforcing the significance of the project.
The Cocody Bay development initiative is divided into two distinct phases. The first phase, currently nearing completion, encompasses the construction of vital road and maritime infrastructure, the creation of an expansive urban park, and the establishment of versatile service platforms. This phase not only addresses immediate urban mobility challenges but also paves the way for a more connected and accessible urban landscape.
The second phase of the project will focus on the development of a tourism and leisure real estate venture, a testament to the long-term economic vision that underpins the Cocody Bay initiative. This forward-looking approach, aligned with the aspirations of both nations, emphasizes sustainable growth and progress that benefits local populations.
Moroccan Ambassador Abdelmalek Kettani emphasized that this transformative endeavor is the tangible result of a shared vision between HM King Mohammed VI and President Alassane Ouattara. The inauguration of the Alassane Ouattara Bridge marks a historic milestone, highlighting the strong and fraternal relations between Morocco and Côte d’Ivoire.
The inauguration of the Cocody Bridge not only heralds a new era of urban progress and connectivity for Côte d’Ivoire but also stands as a living testament to the enduring partnership between the two African nations. This landmark achievement showcases the power of visionary leadership, cooperation, and a commitment to shared development goals.
