LUANDA, (The Southern African Times) – The World Bank announced here Wednesday a new disbursement of 1.5 billion U.S. dollars to Angola.

The grant available from January 2022 will benefit the water, agriculture and other infrastructure sectors of the southern African country, said Hafez Ghanem, vice president of the World Bank for the Eastern and Southern Africa Region, at the end of an audience with Angolan President Joao Lourenco.

Concerning the COVID-19 pandemic, Ghanem said the World Bank will continue to provide full support to Angola to acquire vaccines for its population.
