Angola Oil & Gas Conference Set to Drive Major Industry Deals in 2024

The Angola Oil & Gas (AOG) conference and exhibition is set to return for its fifth edition from October 2-3 in Luanda, promising another round of significant industry deals and strategic partnerships. Since its inception in 2019, AOG has been instrumental in fostering investments and project developments in Angola’s oil and gas sector, attracting a global audience of investors and project developers.

The AOG conference, recognised as the largest oil and gas event in Angola, enjoys the full support of the Ministry of Mineral Resources, Oil and Gas, the national oil company Sonangol, the National Oil, Gas and Biofuels Agency, the African Energy Chamber, and the Petroleum Derivatives Regulatory Institute. The event serves as a crucial platform for signing deals and advancing the nation’s oil and gas industry. Interested parties are encouraged to contact sales@energycapitalpower.com for sponsorship and participation opportunities.

Throughout its history, the AOG conference has facilitated numerous landmark deals. In its inaugural year, agreements were signed between United Shine and Sonangol, NFE International and the Angolan ministries, Sonangol and Eni, and the National Oil, Gas & Biofuels Agency with ExxonMobil. Additionally, Kinetics Technology secured a contract with Sonangol for works related to the Luanda refinery.

The 2022 edition saw further significant agreements, including those between Angola’s Ministry of Mineral Resources, Petroleum and Gas and Namibia’s Ministry of Energy and Mines, the ANPG and Sierra Leone’s Petroleum Directorate, and Equatorial Guinea’s Ministry of Mines and Hydrocarbons with the DRC’s Ministry of Hydrocarbons.

In 2023, seven key deals were signed. Among these were collaborations between Azule Energy and Sonangol, Ambipar and Kini Energias, Etu Energias and SLB, and Protteja Seguros and Petromar. Additionally, the ANPG partnered with three Angolan universities to bolster local capacity building.

Looking ahead to 2024, the conference is structured to address the most pressing opportunities and challenges within Angola’s oil and gas industry. Endorsed by the Ministry of Mineral Resources, Petroleum and Gas, the event aligns with national goals to increase oil production to two million barrels per day in the long term and boost the share of natural gas in the energy matrix to 25%.

This year’s conference will feature parallel programs. The strategic conference program will focus on high-level discussions about the future of the oil and gas industry, exploring investment trends, geopolitical influences, and market dynamics. Concurrently, the technical program will provide in-depth presentations and workshops on technological and operational challenges and solutions. A new addition to the AOG 2024 program is the introduction of on-stage, one-on-one interviews with key industry players from TotalEnergies, Chevron, ExxonMobil, Sonangol, and more, offering insights into the strategies and future directions of leading international energy companies.

As AOG 2024 approaches, several industry deals are anticipated, with companies from across the regional and global oil and gas value chain poised to announce new investments, partnerships, and project launches. The conference continues to solidify its reputation as the premier deal-making platform for Angola’s oil and gas industry, fostering growth and development in this critical sector.
