The 10th edition of Africa Food Manufacturing (AFM), a major international exhibition for food processing and packaging in the African region, opened on Sunday in Egypt’s capital Cairo.
Held at the International Exhibition Center, the three-day fair attracts over 300 exhibitors from various countries to showcase exciting new technologies from across the globe, as well as the latest trends and innovations in food production.
“The fair is a great chance for companies to see new technologies and products in the beverage and food industries,” Ahmed Hussein, purchasing manager with a local food distribution company, told Xinhua.
“It also helps us find new markets outside Egypt as well as build relations with many companies working in the field,” he added.
The expo is held with the participation of regional branches of two leading trade show organizers– Fi Global for food ingredients and ProPak Exhibitions for food processing and packaging, offering a 365-booth marketplace for the community to interact, network and build knowledge through online and physical opportunities.
This year, the AFM is offering a Matchmaking program, which will target all visitors to identify their needs and interests, match these needs with the eligible exhibitors and pre-arrange their sideline meetings.
Tariq Ameer, a manager with a foreign food industries company operating in Egypt, told SAT that the exhibition helps companies avoid wasting time and specify the topics they would like to discuss.
Speaking of the educational conferences joined by high-level speakers and top professionals at the fair, he said “the conferences will bring you the latest trends and best practices in the food manufacturing industry, which is very helpful for us.”
