Zambia Aims to Attract Chinese Investment at China-Africa Expo

Zambia is eagerly preparing to participate in the upcoming third China-Africa Economic and Trade Expo, with the aim of attracting more Chinese investment, according to a statement by Zambian Minister of Commerce, Trade and Industry, Chipoka Mulenga. The expo, scheduled to take place from June 29 to July 2 in Hunan Province, China, serves as a crucial platform for strengthening economic and trade cooperation between China and African nations.

Minister Mulenga expressed his enthusiasm to lead the Zambian business delegation to the expo, highlighting that 21 firms have already expressed their interest in participating. He emphasized the importance of expanding Zambia’s market share and attracting investments from various parts of the world, stressing that China’s initiative to connect with Africa and other nations must not be missed.

During discussions with the Chinese Embassy in Zambia, numerous small and medium enterprises (SMEs) displayed a keen interest in joining the delegation. Minister Mulenga emphasized the government’s view that SMEs play a vital role in the country’s development. By attending events like the expo, local Zambian firms can establish valuable business linkages and strategic partnerships.

Zambia aims to attract more investment and promote value addition to its rich reserves of raw materials. Minister Mulenga highlighted the country’s desire to learn from China’s remarkable success in promoting businesses. Zambia’s central location within the southern African region further enhances its appeal as an investment destination for Chinese enterprises.

Commending the strong trade ties between China and Zambia, Minister Mulenga expressed his desire to witness the cooperation between the two nations flourish to even greater heights.

The third China-Africa Economic and Trade Expo, held under the theme “Common Development for a Shared Future,” is expected to provide an ideal platform for Zambia to showcase its investment potential and trade opportunities. The expo offers a chance to attract Chinese investors looking to expand their presence in Africa.

Zambia, with its abundant natural resources and strategic geographical location, presents a promising investment environment. The country seeks to capitalize on this opportunity to foster economic growth and development. By participating in the expo, Zambia aims to engage in meaningful discussions, forge alliances, and gain valuable insights into China’s successful business models.

The Zambian government is dedicated to creating an enabling environment for foreign investors, with a particular focus on facilitating partnerships that promote value addition and enhance the country’s economic diversification efforts.

As preparations for the expo continue, Zambia remains optimistic about the prospects of strengthening economic ties with China and attracting increased investment. The participation of Zambian firms, particularly SMEs, is expected to yield fruitful results, as they establish connections and explore avenues for collaboration.

With its sights set on achieving greater economic prosperity, Zambia eagerly anticipates the start of the third China-Africa Economic and Trade Expo. The country aims to seize this opportunity to enhance bilateral trade relations, foster mutual growth, and pave the way for a promising shared future between China and Zambia.
