Uganda Airlines, the national carrier, announced on Wednesday that it will inaugurate three new routes to the capitals of Zambia, Zimbabwe, and Nigeria in September 2024.
During the launching ceremony held in Kampala, Uganda’s capital, Jenifer Bamuturaki, Chief Executive Officer of Uganda Airlines, emphasised that the new flights will significantly enhance Uganda’s connectivity with the rest of Africa.
“The launch of the new routes is a milestone in our continuous contribution to intra-African travel. The creation of an air bridge to West Africa and Southern Africa will bring convenience to travellers across the continent with direct flights and seamless connectivity, enabling multiple opportunities in business, trade, tourism, and socio-cultural linkages,” Bamuturaki stated.
Uganda Airlines currently operates flights to several destinations, including Kenya, Tanzania, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Somalia, South Sudan, South Africa, the United Arab Emirates, India, Burundi, and Nigeria’s largest city, Lagos.
The addition of these new routes underscores the airline’s commitment to fostering greater intercontinental travel and enhancing socio-economic ties across Africa.
