Tragedy to Triumph: Meet Kitengela’s Inspirational Property Developer, Leah Wambui

In the bustling town of Kitengela, Kenya, one woman’s remarkable journey from adversity to success has captured the hearts and minds of many. Meet Leah Wambui, the inspirational Property Developer and Founder of Cheriez Properties Limited, a leading real estate company making waves in the region. Her story is one of resilience, determination, and unwavering passion for entrepreneurship.

At the tender age of 16, Leah faced an unimaginable tragedy when she lost both her parents. Struggling to find her footing in the world without them, she nevertheless displayed exceptional strength and perseverance. She focused on her studies, working tirelessly through high school, and excelled academically, proving that nothing could dampen her spirit.

Despite her academic brilliance, the financial burden of continuing her education was insurmountable. With a heavy heart, Leah had to put her dreams of university aside. However, she was not one to be defeated easily. A kind relative extended a helping hand, allowing her to secure a receptionist job, which provided some solace and a sense of purpose.

As life took her through its ups and downs, Leah’s burning desire to be an entrepreneur never waned. Fuelled by ambition, she eventually took a leap of faith and left her receptionist job to embark on her own business journey. The road was challenging, but Leah’s indomitable will and commitment to her dreams kept her moving forward.

In 2009, her dedication bore fruit as Leah founded Cheriez Properties Limited. This marked the beginning of a groundbreaking venture that would change her life and the lives of many others in Kitengela. Undeterred by the male-dominated industry norms, she carved her path, determined to make a significant impact.

One of Leah’s key milestones came in 2015 when she acquired five acres of prime land in Kitengela. Her company rapidly flourished, becoming a shining example of excellence in the real estate market. With over 200 housing units, each valued at more than Ksh.15 million, Cheriez Properties Limited became a symbol of quality and reliability.

When asked about her sources of inspiration, Leah fondly recalled her maternal aunt, an accomplished entrepreneur, whose success served as a beacon of hope for the young girl. Her aunt’s achievements ignited a spark in Leah, and she aspired to emulate her one day. Grateful for her aunt’s influence, Leah attributes much of her entrepreneurial acumen to the nurturing guidance she received.

Yet, behind every successful woman is often a supportive partner, and Leah’s husband was her unwavering pillar throughout her journey. Together, they faced challenges head-on and celebrated triumphs with equal fervor. Their bond serves as a testament to aspiring young African couples, exemplifying the importance of choosing a partner who understands and supports one’s dreams, no matter the odds.

Leah Wambui’s story is a testament to the indomitable human spirit and the power of resilience and determination. From her early struggles as an orphan to becoming a trailblazing property developer, she has defied expectations, broken barriers, and created a lasting legacy in Kitengela’s real estate landscape.

Her journey serves as an inspiration not only to those in the property development industry but to anyone facing adversity, dreaming of pursuing their passion against all odds. Leah’s life story reminds us that with unwavering determination, relentless hard work, and the support of loved ones, the human spirit can triumph over any obstacle.
