(The Southern African Times) – Samia Suluhu Hassan was sworn in Friday morning as the 6th President of the United Republic of Tanzania.
The ceremony took place at State House in Dar-es-Salaam.
President Hassan began her first day in office with an inspection of the Guard of Honour.

She’s the first woman to serve as Tanzania president and the second president of Tanzania from Zanzibar.
Ali Hassan Mwinyi, who also hails from Zanzibar, ruled for 10 years from 1985-1995.
