The Southern African Development Community (SADC) has given the nod for the expansion of the SADC Standby Force Regional Logistics Depot in Rasesa village, situated 64 km from Botswana’s capital, Gaborone. This move was announced by Defence and Security Minister Kagiso Mmusi during an exclusive interview with Radio Botswana. The approval comes as a significant step towards bolstering the region’s operational capabilities in peacekeeping and humanitarian endeavors.
Spearheaded by the government of Botswana, the allocation of land for the SADC Standby Force Regional Logistics Depot underscores the nation’s commitment to fostering peace and stability within the region. The development project, initiated with a funding of 12.5 million U.S. dollars, is slated to commence with the construction of two warehouses and vital infrastructure components such as roads, sewer systems, and water and electricity networks.
