Olympic Paris: Your Insider’s Guide to the City’s Biggest Event of 2024

Renowned for its unparalleled charm and vibrant culture, Paris is set to experience an unprecedented influx of visitors as the 2024 Summer Olympics unfold. From July 26 to August 11, the City of Light will host an estimated 15 million tourists, drawn by the allure of the Games and the city’s timeless appeal.

“Paris is always a city full of life, but the Olympic Games add a whole new level of excitement and energy,” remarked Wilson Tauro, Country Manager Southern Africa at Air France-KLM. “It’s a perfect time to visit, with countless events, unique experiences, and the unparalleled charm of Paris on full display.”

The Seine Takes Centre Stage

This year marks a historic moment for Paris as the Seine River transforms into a focal point of the Olympic festivities. For the first time, the river will host open-water swimming, paratriathlon, and triathlon competitions, and will be open to public swimming post-Games. The Opening Ceremony, a spectacle of unprecedented grandeur, featured national delegations parading on boats along the river, setting the tone for a memorable Olympic experience.

Immersive Olympic Experiences

For those unable to secure event tickets, Paris offers ample opportunities to partake in the Olympic spirit. The city is dotted with public screens, and numerous bars and cafés will broadcast the competitions. In addition to sporting events, Paris will host an array of performances, parades, cultural events, and other Olympic-related festivities, ensuring a vibrant atmosphere throughout the city.

Air France’s Olympic Offerings

Air France, embracing the Olympic spirit, invites visitors to explore its offerings at the Palais de Tokyo from July 27 to August 11. This expansive 850m² space will feature an Air France restaurant, specially opened for the Games. The restaurant, with a seating capacity of 80, will offer gourmet dishes typically reserved for the airline’s long-haul Business cabin, crafted by triple Michelin-starred chef Arnaud Lallement. Desserts by Nina Métayer, the World’s 50 Best Restaurants Awards’ 2024 World Pastry Chef, will also be available, complemented by a selection of wines, champagnes, and other beverages.

Following the Olympics, Air France will continue to showcase its products and services at SPOT24, near the Eiffel Tower, from August 28 to September 8. Highlights include their latest long-haul Business seat and the SAPHIR assistance service, which offers information and booking assistance for individuals with disabilities.

Historic Landmarks Amidst Olympic Frenzy

The city’s iconic landmarks, from the Eiffel Tower to the Louvre Museum, will be abuzz with activity. Visitors should seize the opportunity to explore these sites, including the Sacre Coeur Basilica, the Grand Palais, and the city’s beautiful gardens such as the Tuileries Garden, Jardin du Luxembourg, and the Champ de Mars.

A City Alive with Olympic Spirit

The convergence of the 2024 Summer Olympics and Paris’s inherent allure promises an electrifying atmosphere. Visitors will experience a unique blend of historic charm and contemporary excitement, making their stay in Paris truly unforgettable. As the city brims with Olympic fervour, it stands as a testament to its enduring ability to enchant and inspire onlookers from around the globe.
