King98 Ignites the Airwaves with His Electrifying New Single, Pressure

King98 has firmly cemented his position as one of Zimbabwe’s most influential musical talents, renowned for his versatility and philanthropic efforts. Embraced across Southern and Eastern Africa, his dynamic artistry reflects influences from global icons such as Ye (formerly Kanye West) and Davido. Seamlessly transitioning between hip-hop, Afrobeats, and amapiano, King98 has proven himself a genre-defying force in African music.

Since releasing his award-winning debut album Francesca in 2018, featuring international stars like Davido, Nasty C, and Laylizzy, King98 has consistently reached new heights. The album’s standout track Wacko achieved platinum status and helped cultivate a loyal fanbase, an accomplishment King98 described as a “dream come true” in an interview with The Southern African Times.

In 2020, King98 collaborated with East African superstar Diamond Platnumz on the hit track Kachiri, which has since garnered over six million views. This collaboration opened doors for him in Swahili-speaking nations, further solidifying his appeal across Africa. Fast-forward to 2024, King98 continues to thrive, recently featuring on Shashl’s poignant love ballad, a single that amassed millions of streams on YouTube. His growing catalogue of collaborations has not only expanded his audience but also underscored his ability to transcend borders and appeal to diverse listeners.

As 2025 approaches, King98 remains relentless in his pursuit of musical greatness. His latest single, Pressure, is a deeply personal track that tells his story of perseverance in the face of adversity and criticism. King98 describes it as a powerful statement of resilience, showcasing his ability to channel challenges into artistic triumphs.

Reflecting on his journey, King98 credits much of his success to his father, who played a pivotal role in shaping his career. “My father encouraged me to approach music as a business,” King98 shared. “He was an entrepreneur who calculated every move, ensuring the King98 brand would grow into a multi-million-dollar empire.” His father’s influence extended beyond strategy, as he actively participated in studio sessions and even contributed to songwriting. King98’s dedication to his craft and entrepreneurial mindset are legacies of this mentorship.

Musical influences such as Drake, Ye, and Davido have also shaped King98’s artistry. “Drake and Kanye taught me the importance of versatility, blending rap and singing seamlessly,” he explained. “Davido’s work ethic and humility have inspired me to remain grounded and spread love, while always representing Zimbabwe.”

Strategic collaborations have been a hallmark of King98’s career, with notable partnerships including Diamond Platnumz, Nasty C, and Rayvanny. He emphasised the importance of tailoring music to resonate with each collaborator’s audience, as exemplified by Kachiri, which was crafted specifically for East African listeners. “Diamond guided me, and that song introduced me to a massive audience in Tanzania,” he said, highlighting the business acumen that drives his creative decisions.

Beyond music, King98 embodies the spirit of Pan-Africanism, embracing the continent’s diversity while representing Zimbabwe with pride. He remains committed to fostering unity and collaboration among African artists, with dreams of a continent-wide tour that would celebrate the rich musical heritage of Africa.

King98’s philanthropic efforts during the COVID-19 pandemic showcased his commitment to uplifting others, a value instilled by his father. By supporting fellow musicians and promoting Zimbabwean talent, he aims to strengthen the nation’s music industry and inspire the next generation.

His vision for the future is clear: to become a legend who breaks boundaries for Zimbabwean and African artists. With aspirations of touring the United States and Europe, as well as collaborating with global stars like Chris Brown, Burna Boy, and Winky D, King98 is determined to elevate his craft to new heights.

To aspiring musicians, King98 offers invaluable advice: “Pray and seek God’s guidance, stay humble, and keep your true supporters close. Listen, learn, and always strive for greatness.”

King98’s journey is a testament to resilience, passion, and the transformative power of music. As he continues to break barriers and redefine success, his latest release, Pressure, stands as a powerful reminder that true greatness thrives under adversity.
