Jubilee Metals Begins Operations at Upgraded Roan Copper Concentrator

Leon Coetzer, Chief Executive Officer of Jubilee Metals Group

Jubilee Metals Group PLC has announced the successful commencement of operations at its upgraded Roan copper concentrator in Zambia, marking a significant milestone in the company’s expansion strategy. The London-based metal processing firm, which holds extensive projects in both South Africa and Zambia, has initiated production at the newly constructed front-end section of the Roan operation. This development has augmented the facility’s processing capacity to a maximum design of 13,000 tonnes of copper per annum.

The new front-end module has been strategically installed adjacent to the pre-existing milling and flotation circuits, thereby enhancing the operational efficiency and throughput of the Roan concentrator. This upgrade is a pivotal component of Jubilee’s broader plan, which includes an ongoing enhancement of the Sable refinery. Together, these efforts are poised to elevate the combined copper processing capacity of the company to an anticipated 25,000 tonnes annually over the forthcoming year.

Leon Coetzer, Chief Executive Officer of Jubilee Metals Group, expressed pride in the commencement of the Roan front-end upgrade project, emphasising its role in the production ramp-up of previously mined material that has been pre-upgraded at the source. Coetzer highlighted that the synergistic relationship between the Roan concentrator and the Sable refinery endows Jubilee with substantial processing flexibility. This, he noted, positions the company uniquely to capitalise on copper resources that can now be more effectively unlocked by their enhanced capabilities.

Jubilee’s share price exhibited a modest uptick in response to the news, rising by 0.6% to 6.02 pence in London. Meanwhile, the company’s shares remained stable at ZAR1.40 on the Johannesburg Stock Exchange.

This latest development underscores Jubilee’s commitment to advancing its strategic objectives within the copper sector, leveraging innovative upgrades and expansions to fortify its market position.
