Afro Nation Portugal, the world’s largest celebration of Afrobeats and Amapiano, has officially announced the third wave of artists for its 2026 edition, with African powerhouses Burna Boy and Uncle Waffles leading the charge. The festival, scheduled for 3–5 July 2026 on the sun-soaked shores of Praia da Rocha Beach in Portimão, Portugal, promises a powerful display of African excellence and diaspora unity.
Now in its sixth edition, Afro Nation continues to stand as a defining platform for African music and culture on the global stage. This latest wave of artists reaffirms that legacy, bringing together some of the most influential voices from across the continent.
Nigerian global sensation Burna Boy, known for his genre-blending sound and powerful performances, makes a highly anticipated return to Afro Nation Portugal. His last appearance at the festival in 2025 was marked by the global premiere of his album No Sign of Weakness, making headlines and setting social media ablaze. This year, fans can expect another defining moment as Burna Boy continues to push creative boundaries while staying deeply rooted in African identity.

With a connection to Afro Nation dating back to its inaugural edition in 2019, Burna Boy’s involvement underscores the festival’s cultural significance. His music, which regularly tops charts and fills stadiums, serves as a global bridge between African traditions and modern music movements.
Flying the flag high for Southern Africa, Uncle Waffles returns to the Piano People Stage, bringing her signature energy and innovative Amapiano sets back to Portugal. As one of the genre’s leading figures, the Swazi-born, South African-based DJ and producer has become a global symbol of Amapiano’s meteoric rise. Her sets—infused with high energy, rhythm, and unmistakable style—have become iconic moments within the Afro Nation community.

Fresh off a sold-out international tour and the landmark Piano People event in South Africa, Uncle Waffles’ appearance in Portugal marks a full-circle moment in her journey. Her return not only elevates the genre but reinforces Afro Nation’s role in nurturing and showcasing African talent globally.
Joining Burna Boy and Uncle Waffles are a fresh group of standout artists from across Africa, including Ghanaian duo R2Bees, Nigerian legend Wande Coal, Ugandan rising star Joshua Baraka, and Afrofusion artist Mavo. They add to an already stellar lineup featuring Wizkid, Asake, Tyla, Gunna, and Kehlani, who continue to dominate international charts and streaming platforms.
On the Amapiano front, the Piano People Stage will also welcome genre pioneers and rising stars such as Kelvin Momo, DJ Lag, DJ Tshegu, Felo Le Tee, Njelic, Nkosasana Daughter, JAZZWRLD & Thukuthela, Que DJ, Royal Musiq, Scotts Maphuma, Skyla Tylaa, and Success SA—a testament to the genre’s vibrant evolution.
