Anthony Joshua Presents Autographed Glove to President Tinubu During Lagos Visit

Two-time heavyweight boxing champion Anthony Joshua met with Nigerian President Bola Tinubu during a festive season visit to Lagos, presenting him with an autographed boxing glove inscribed with a heartfelt message.

The glove, signed with the words, “To the Great Asiwaju Jagaban Borgu of Africa, Bola A Tinubu,” was a gesture of respect and recognition from the Nigerian-born British boxer. President Tinubu described the encounter as an inspiring moment, praising Joshua’s achievements and his dedication to excellence.

“I just had the honour of hosting our very own Anthony Joshua, a true champion and worthy ambassador of Nigeria,” Tinubu said. “Anthony Joshua’s dedication and achievements continue to inspire millions daily. Thank you for the autographed glove—it is a symbol of perseverance and excellence, a symbol of what Nigerians are known for.”

Joshua’s visit comes during a broader homecoming tour, which included a meeting with Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun. During their discussions, Governor Abiodun announced plans for the construction of a state-of-the-art indoor boxing facility named after Joshua. The boxer is also set to play a key role in the 2025 Gateway Games National Sports Festival by lighting the ceremonial torch, reinforcing his status as a sports ambassador for Nigeria.

This visit highlights Anthony Joshua’s enduring connection to his Nigerian heritage and his commitment to fostering the development of sports in the country.
