The 72nd edition of the prestigious Miss World Festival is set to take place in Telangana, India, marking yet another milestone in the history of the world-renowned pageant. Running from 7th to 31st May 2025, the festival will feature a series of events across the state, culminating in a grand finale in Hyderabad, where the reigning Miss World, Krystyna Pyszková of Czechia, will pass on her crown to her successor.
Following the resounding success of the 71st Miss World, hosted in New Delhi and Mumbai, the event now moves to Telangana, a state celebrated for its fusion of tradition and modernity. The official announcement was made by Julia Morley CBE, Chairman and CEO of Miss World Limited, alongside Ms. Smita Sabharwal, Secretary to the Government of Telangana, Tourism, Culture, Heritage, and Youth Affairs Department.
Expressing her enthusiasm about the chosen host, Julia Morley highlighted the significance of the partnership, stating, “We are delighted to bring the 72nd Miss World Festival to Telangana, a state that beautifully represents its rich culture, innovation, and hospitality. Partnering with the Telangana government allows us to showcase its incredible heritage and dynamic growth to a global audience. This collaboration is not just about hosting the Miss World Festival; it’s about empowering communities, celebrating diversity, and making a lasting impact through our shared commitment to beauty with a purpose.”
Ms. Smita Sabharwal echoed this sentiment, underscoring Telangana’s cultural depth and its role as a fitting stage for an event of such global significance.
“Telangana is proud to announce that it will be hosting the 72nd Miss World 2025, welcoming the world to witness a land where beauty is not just what meets the eye; it is what resonates with its land, people, culture, and traditions. Telangana is a place where every festival is a spectacle of joy, where every hand that crafts tells a story of skill and devotion. This is Telangana, a reflection of what true beauty symbolises.”
Among the contestants from over 120 countries and territories, Zimbabwe will be represented by Courtney Jongwe, a 23-year-old Chemical and Processing Engineering student at Manicaland State University. Already a familiar face on the global stage, Courtney previously showcased her poise and commitment as Zimbabwe’s representative at the 2023 Miss Earth competition. With a strong passion for mental health advocacy, she aims to use this prestigious platform to amplify her message and inspire positive change.
As the world turns its attention to Telangana, the 72nd Miss World Festival promises to be a spectacular celebration of beauty, culture, and purpose-driven leadership. With contestants from diverse backgrounds uniting on one stage, the event will once again reinforce its mission of empowerment and global impact. For Zimbabweans, Courtney Jongwe’s journey will be a source of national pride, as she embodies the grace, strength, and purpose that define the country’s spirit on the world stage.
