Tanzania and the European Union (EU) have reaffirmed their dedication to enhancing economic ties, with a renewed focus on trade and investment as pivotal drivers of sustainable development.
This commitment was formalised during the Tanzania-EU Partnership Dialogue held in Dar es Salaam earlier this week. The event saw Tanzania’s Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation, Cosato Chumi, and Rita Laranjinha, Managing Director for Africa at the EU’s European External Action Service, exchange documents outlining the resolutions of the partnership.
The partnership aims to bolster economic cooperation and foster mutual benefits, aligning with global sustainable development goals. Trade facilitation, investment frameworks, and capacity-building initiatives emerged as key priorities in the dialogue.
Rita Laranjinha emphasised the EU’s long-term commitment to supporting Tanzania’s economic growth, highlighting investment in infrastructure and technology as focal areas. Meanwhile, Cosato Chumi underscored the importance of collaborative efforts in unlocking Tanzania’s trade potential in European markets.
The resolutions mark another step in strengthening Tanzania’s ties with one of its largest trading partners, laying the groundwork for future initiatives designed to catalyse economic transformation.
