Three of Zimbabwe’s emerging musical voices have turned an intense 48 hour creative challenge into a new three track EP, demonstrating the possibilities of collaboration within the country’s evolving music industry. Titled “24”, the project brings together artists Kurry Suave, Yadis and Enhle, with production by MrGodwin and project management by Chikomborero “Wehvuu” Machamire.
The EP was developed through the Music Connects Africa programme in partnership with Terminal One Africa, a branch of Kay Media Africa, and the British Council Zimbabwe, with support from the Embassy of Switzerland in Zimbabwe.
Unlike conventional recording projects that can take months to develop, 24 was conceived, written, recorded and completed during an intensive two day creative camp. The compressed timeline placed the artists and production team under considerable creative pressure, requiring them to develop a shared vision while retaining their individual identities. The resulting project moves across Afropop, Afro dance, Afrohouse and Afro R&B, creating a varied but cohesive sound anchored in contemporary Zimbabwean experiences.
The opening track, Tuesday, sets an energetic tone, exploring perseverance, ambition and the rewards of hard work. The song combines English and Shona, reflecting the confidence and determination of a generation navigating an increasingly competitive creative landscape.
MASE takes a more intimate approach, exploring attraction, patience and self worth, while maintaining the project’s contemporary African sound.
The EP closes with Soft, a celebration of femininity, self expression and modern love. Enhle’s soulful vocals provide the centrepiece, complemented by contributions from Kurry Suave and Yadis. The three artists bring distinctly different experiences to the collaboration.
Kurry Suave, a rapper, singer, songwriter, producer and media personality from Chitungwiza, has developed a reputation for blending hip hop, melodic trap and African influences. His debut EP, AVANTE-GARDE, previously charted on the Apple Music Zimbabwe Top 100 Albums Chart.
Yadis has established herself as one of Zimbabwe’s emerging hip hop voices, with a reputation for sharp lyricism, bilingual delivery and writing that reflects contemporary youth culture. She was named Best Female Artist at both the 2025 Zim Hip Hop Awards and the 2026 Changamire Awards, and has performed at platforms including Shoko Festival.
Enhle represents a newer generation of Zimbabwean Afro R&B and Afro Soul artists. Her music combines contemporary African sounds with rich melodies and introspective themes. Her 2025 project, The Goddessey, helped strengthen her profile, while performances at HIFA, Shoko Festival and Shebeen Fest have expanded her presence on the local live music circuit.
Behind the project’s production is MrGodwin, whose musical career spans more than two decades. His experience in choir direction, a cappella performance and digital production has shaped a sound informed by harmony, rhythm and arrangement.
For Machamire, who managed the creative process, the project also demonstrates the importance of coordination in bringing different artistic voices into a single body of work.
The significance of 24 extends beyond its three tracks. By placing emerging artists, a producer and a project manager in an intensive creative environment, the initiative creates a practical platform for experimentation, professional development and artistic exchange.
It also highlights the value of programmes that give young African creatives access to structured collaboration and the resources required to transform ideas into finished work.
As Zimbabwe’s music industry continues to produce artists working across increasingly fluid genres, 24 offers a snapshot of that creative evolution, bringing together different voices and approaches within a project conceived in just two days. The EP is now available on major streaming platforms.
