Protea Hotels by Marriott, a leading brand within Marriott Bonvoy’s global portfolio, has further solidified its presence in Africa with the launch of two new properties: Protea by Marriott Delta in Nigeria and Protea by Marriott Lusaka International Airport in Zambia. This move marks a significant milestone in the group’s continued expansion across the continent, reinforcing its commitment to blending contemporary amenities with Africa’s rich cultural heritage.

Sandra Schulze-Potgieter, Vice President of Premium & Select Brands for Europe, Middle East, and Africa at Marriott International, underscored the strategic importance of these new openings. “Both hotels are designed to provide a perfect blend of modern amenities and an enriching connection to local culture. These launches further affirm our commitment to delivering the signature African hospitality and personal service that defines Protea Hotels by Marriott,” she said. The expansion also benefits from Marriott International’s extensive global network, enabling Protea Hotels to meet the growing demand for business and leisure travel in key African markets.

Situated in the business district of Ekpan Warri, Nigeria, Protea Hotel by Marriott Delta is strategically located near the country’s vital oil and gas industries. The hotel is a 15-minute drive from Osubi Airport, making it a convenient option for both corporate and leisure travellers. The property offers 69 contemporary guest rooms, designed to cater to the needs of modern travellers, with facilities such as three conference rooms that can accommodate both intimate business meetings and large corporate events.

Culinary options include the Delta Restaurant, an all-day dining venue offering a range of local and international dishes, as well as a lobby and pool bar, ideal for guests to relax after a busy day. The hotel also features the Oriki Spa, an outdoor swimming pool, and a fitness centre, adding to the array of amenities that make it a top choice for discerning guests.

Located just minutes from Kenneth Kaunda International Airport, the Protea Hotel by Marriott Lusaka International Airport offers unrivalled convenience for both business and leisure travellers visiting Zambia’s capital. The property boasts 72 elegantly designed guest rooms, complemented by an all-day restaurant serving a fusion of local and international cuisine. Guests can unwind by the outdoor pool, enjoy a drink at the bar, or take advantage of the hotel’s fitness centre.

For those travelling on business, the hotel provides a variety of meeting spaces, including six boardrooms and two larger meeting rooms that can accommodate up to 104 people. With its close proximity to the airport and extensive business facilities, the hotel is an ideal venue for corporate meetings, workshops, and events. Guests are also offered complimentary shuttle services to and from the airport, ensuring a seamless travel experience.

These new openings in Nigeria and Zambia form part of Protea Hotels by Marriott’s ongoing expansion strategy in Africa, bringing the total number of properties across the continent to over 60. The brand’s footprint now spans nine African countries, including Angola, Botswana, Malawi, Namibia, Nigeria, South Africa, Tanzania, Uganda, and Zambia. Protea Hotels by Marriott remains a leading choice for travellers seeking to experience the best of African hospitality, offering modern facilities and an authentic connection to the local culture.

With its growing presence across both primary and secondary business hubs, as well as leisure destinations, Protea Hotels by Marriott continues to attract a diverse range of travellers, positioning itself as a key player in Africa’s evolving hospitality landscape.
