ICAZ Brings Zimbabwe Finance and Investment Talks to the UK

The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Zimbabwe (ICAZ), in collaboration with Financial Markets Indaba, is set to convene its highly anticipated 2025 Winter School and Investment Conference in the United Kingdom from 24th to 28th August. Hosted at the University of Kent in Canterbury and culminating at 99 Bishopsgate in London, the event aims to attract a global audience of finance professionals, institutional investors, and policy stakeholders. The Southern African Times is proud to serve as a media partner for this landmark initiative, which is poised to illuminate Zimbabwe’s economic transformation agenda and promote investment dialogue.

Under the theme “Global Perspectives, Local Impact: The Evolving Role of Finance Experts,” the conference is positioned as a vital forum for diaspora engagement, economic diplomacy, and private sector mobilisation. ICAZ, whose membership base is now comprised of more than 50% overseas professionals, recognises the strategic value of the diaspora in bridging Zimbabwe’s capital needs and global financial networks. The Winter School, historically a professional development anchor for chartered accountants, is being augmented in 2025 by a robust investment conference that brings focus to economic revitalisation and cross-border collaboration.

The conference opens in Canterbury on Wednesday, 27th August 2025, with a series of expert-led panel discussions examining regional capital markets, foreign direct investment flows, and sector-specific prospects across energy, infrastructure, finance, and technology. Contributors will include seasoned professionals from Zimbabwe and the United Kingdom, ensuring a multidimensional understanding of opportunities and constraints.

Company spotlights form a core part of the first day’s agenda. Selected Zimbabwean firms will present their growth trajectories and capital needs, offering global investors a direct view into operational models and emerging ventures. These presentations aim to foster transparency and provide a practical understanding of market potential, regulatory reform, and financial viability within Zimbabwe.

On Thursday, 28th August, the conference moves to London for a series of closed-door roundtables and curated business-to-business meetings. These sessions will be held at 99 Bishopsgate, a central hub for financial services. The focus will shift to structuring investments, understanding Zimbabwe’s legal and regulatory frameworks, and enabling practical deal flow. Strategic matchmaking will facilitate introductions between Zimbabwean project developers and potential institutional financiers, with the goal of accelerating partnerships that support the country’s national development goals.

This year’s conference is also significant in the context of Zimbabwe’s recent reform momentum. Notable institutional and legislative changes have enhanced the transparency and competitiveness of Zimbabwe’s investment climate. Key developments include the operational expansion of the Zimbabwe Investment and Development Agency (ZIDA), the continued growth of the Victoria Falls Stock Exchange (VFEX), and the government’s backing of the Mutapa Investment Fund as a sovereign investment vehicle.

The confirmed participation of institutions such as the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe, ZIDA, CBZ Holdings, Old Mutual Zimbabwe, EcoCash, and VFEX reflects an alignment between public institutions and private enterprise. Together, these actors intend to articulate a unified narrative of confidence, long-term policy direction, and economic opportunity.

A key feature of the event will be its targeted networking and engagement with the Zimbabwean diaspora. ICAZ’s global membership, supported by partnerships such as this with The Southern African Times, will gain access to meaningful discourse around Zimbabwe’s fiscal architecture, investment pipeline, and governance frameworks. This interaction serves to reconnect diaspora professionals with their home country’s development agenda and to position them as ambassadors and enablers of economic diplomacy.

The profile of attendees includes chartered accountants, finance executives, investment banks, fund managers, and senior leaders from both government and industry. By uniting stakeholders in a conducive environment, the conference aims to strengthen Zimbabwe’s investment case and foster a renewed sense of economic collaboration between Africa and its global partners.

The ICAZ Winter School and Investment Conference 2025 is not only a professional gathering; it is a manifestation of Zimbabwe’s intent to leverage its global citizenry, financial talent, and reform trajectory to attract sustainable investment. Stakeholders interested in attending, sponsoring, or partnering are invited to visit the official site at https://www.indabaafrica.com/financial-markets-london/ or contact Patrick at patrick@indabaafrica.com.

As The Southern African Times continues its commitment to elevating investment discourse and pan-African economic narratives, this partnership exemplifies a shared vision for progress, transparency, and inclusive development.
