Novak Djokovic had been struggling with an abdominal injury earlier in the tournament, but he was in buoyant mood following his straight sets triumph at the Rod Laver Arena.
“This is the best that I have felt in the entire tournament. I felt great, I could swing through the ball, no pain; just the best match so far and it came at the right time. I’m thrilled to feel this way.”
Novak Djokovic is full of praise for his opponent Aslan Karatsev. What a tournament it’s been for the debutant! Speaking to Eurosport, Djokovic said:
“We need to give him a hand. Huge congratulations to him. On his debut he reached the semi-finals, I don’t think it ever happened in the history of tennis, so well done to him. He played a great tournament.”
