The African Business Chamber (AfBC) has confirmed that the 2025 edition of its prestigious African Business Awards will be graced by His Excellency Johnston Busingye, the Rwandan High Commissioner to the United Kingdom, who will serve as the Guest of Honour. The event is scheduled for Thursday, 3 July 2025, at the Millennium Gloucester Hotel & Conference Centre in the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea, London.

The presence of His Excellency Busingye—an accomplished legal professional, diplomat, and advocate of pan-African development—underscores the growing significance of the AfBC Awards as not only a business celebration but also a strategic platform for cross-continental dialogue. As Rwanda continues to be recognised for its digital transformation, economic resilience, and policy innovation, the High Commissioner’s participation is expected to lend a unique geopolitical perspective to the evening’s proceedings.

In his diplomatic role, Busingye has been instrumental in deepening bilateral relations between the UK and Rwanda, with particular emphasis on trade, education, and sustainable development. His address is anticipated to explore the broader role of African diplomacy in supporting enterprise and innovation both on the continent and within diaspora networks.

The keynote address will also feature a yet-to-be-named global trade and development expert, whose experience spans multilateral trade frameworks, economic diplomacy, and cross-border investment. Their contribution will complement the High Commissioner’s perspective by engaging with macroeconomic trends, private-sector development, and diaspora-led growth across Africa and the UK.

Now in its annual cycle, the AfBC African Business Awards have become a cornerstone event within the African business community in Britain and abroad. This year’s edition will highlight exceptional achievements across several sectors, including technology, finance, creative industries, healthcare, sustainability, and professional services. Categories such as Entrepreneur of the Year, Diaspora Excellence, and International Trade Excellence reflect AfBC’s commitment to fostering inclusive economic growth and leadership rooted in community advancement.

The 2025 programme also includes Special Recognition and Honorary Awards to individuals who have demonstrated outstanding contributions in their respective fields—ranging from social enterprise to business diplomacy. These awards are designed to honour not only commercial success but also ethical leadership, innovation, and long-term impact.

AfBC Chief Executive Eugene Nizeyimana noted the significance of this year’s line-up, stating, “We are proud to welcome His Excellency Johnston Busingye as Guest of Honour. His work embodies the values we seek to uplift—visionary leadership, integrity, and a firm belief in the transformative power of business and diplomacy. Alongside our distinguished keynote speaker, this year’s event will offer unique insights into the future of African entrepreneurship and global collaboration.”

The evening will be structured around a formal awards ceremony, a high-level dinner, and a programme of cultural performances that showcase the rich artistic and creative heritage of the African continent. It will also feature curated networking opportunities, enabling investors, entrepreneurs, and professionals to forge new commercial relationships and policy collaborations.

Attendance is by registration only, and availability is limited. The deadline for securing a place is Friday, 27 June 2025. Tickets can be reserved via Eventbrite. Businesses and individuals interested in submitting nominations may do so via info@african-chamber.com, with further details available on the official event page.

The African Business Chamber serves as a vital platform for connecting African businesses, investors, and diaspora professionals. Through capacity-building initiatives, trade missions, and market intelligence, AfBC continues to strengthen economic ties between the UK and African nations.

As African-led enterprises play an increasingly visible role in reshaping global commerce, the 2025 AfBC African Business Awards serve not merely as a ceremony but as a catalyst for opportunity, diplomacy, and strategic investment.
