Minor Hotels Expands Footprint in Africa with New Anantara Property at Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe

Minor Hotels, a prominent international hotel operator and investor, is continuing its global expansion with the opening of a new Anantara-branded property in Zimbabwe this December. The Anantara Stanley & Livingstone Victoria Falls Hotel, located just 15 minutes from the awe-inspiring Victoria Falls, represents a significant milestone in the company’s expansion across Africa. Situated in a picturesque conservation area, the hotel is strategically positioned near one of the world’s most renowned natural wonders, offering an exceptional destination for luxury travellers and those seeking a unique experience in Southern Africa.

The new property will offer an intimate and exclusive experience, with just 16 all-suite rooms, catering to guests seeking privacy and comfort. Each suite can be configured for double or twin occupancy, while two sets of interconnected suites provide the option for private two-bedroom accommodation, perfect for families or those seeking additional space. The family-friendly hotel also boasts a range of activities for all ages, both at the property and around Victoria Falls, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and Natural Wonder of the World.

As the seventh Anantara property in Africa, this new addition reinforces Minor Hotels’ commitment to expanding its luxury brand on the continent. The Anantara Stanley & Livingstone Victoria Falls Hotel complements the nearby Anantara Royal Livingstone Victoria Falls Hotel in Zambia, located just across the Zambezi River. This dual presence in both Zimbabwe and Zambia solidifies Minor Hotels’ strategic positioning in the region, offering guests the opportunity to explore both sides of the majestic Victoria Falls.

The hotel will feature a gourmet restaurant offering breakfast, lunch, and dinner, with dining options available in the restaurant, on the terrace, or in the gardens. Additionally, the hotel will have a lounge and bar, along with a garden swimming pool equipped with shaded loungers, providing a peaceful and relaxing environment for guests. The property is designed to deliver an exceptional stay, with guests encouraged to explore the surrounding area and engage in various activities that showcase the beauty and natural heritage of Victoria Falls.

Dillip Rajakarier, CEO of Minor Hotels and Group CEO of parent company Minor International, expressed his excitement about the hotel’s opening, saying, “We are excited to announce the addition of a second Anantara property at Victoria Falls, showcasing our dedication to growing our luxury Anantara brand in Africa. An elegant boutique hotel in a strategic location close to one of Southern Africa’s most iconic attractions, Anantara Stanley & Livingstone Victoria Falls Hotel embodies our commitment to deliver peerless hospitality and distinctive experiences in the world’s most desirable locations.”

Minor Hotels continues to solidify its presence in Africa, operating over 550 hotels across 56 countries. The company plans further expansion in the region, with properties under its Anantara, Avani, NH, and Elewana Collection brands. The upcoming Anantara Kafue River Tented Camp in Zambia, set to open in mid-2025, further demonstrates the company’s growing commitment to the African hospitality market.
