Acclaimed Zimbabwean singer-songwriter Gemma Griffiths unveiled, ‘Where I’m Going,’ which has hit all major digital streaming platforms today. Born from the collaborative genius of the Harare based musician and producer Gangsta (whose production credits include Nutty O, Takura, Nigeria’s – Blaqbonez and Kenya’s – Sauti Sol), the song breaks into new ground. Fusing Griffiths’ signature style with innovative production, the track is a meeting of worlds. It features a sample from the late jazz icon Bob Nyabinde’s timeless classic, “Chabuda Hapana”, who tragically passed away in December, leaving behind an incredible legacy to inspire future generations.

Speaking about the inspiration behind the single, Gemma expresses her deep reverence for Bob Nyabinde and his musical contributions. “Bob Nyabinde was not only a musical icon but also a source of inspiration for countless artists, me included,” she says. “It is so bittersweet to finally be able to share a song he was so proud of. It is a huge privilege to pay tribute to him through this and to keep his spirit alive through music.”
Adding to the tapestry, Albert Nyabinde, the musically gifted son of Bob Nyabinde, makes a saxophone cameo on the song, infusing even more soul and depth.
He says, “ I thank Gemma, for rekindling the music. It’s such an honor to have artists of high calibre like her, remembering the Headmaster. His work will stay etched deep in our souls. I know he is watching us in heaven and we shall continue to work hard”
‘Where I’m Going’, follows Griffiths’ recent hit, ‘Ndichatarisa,’ which dominated airplay charts in Zimbabwe and gained international acclaim, amassing over 70M views on TikTok, solidifying Griffiths’ status as breakthrough global sensation. Testament to her evolution as an artist, Griffiths capped off a stellar year with a show-stopping performance in the UK at ‘Afro, Amapiano meets Reggae,’ sharing the stage with industry heavyweights from Jamaica, Nigeria, Uganda, and South Africa. Not one to rest for too long, she hit the ground running by teaming up with Leo Magozz on ‘My Baby’ followed by ‘Ndino Pembera’, from the Chillspot Records stable, and most recently with Bling4 on ‘Vana Venyu’.
