Chinese Investors Set to Boost Economic Ties with Tanzania at Investment Forum

a delegation of over 100 Chinese investors is poised to participate in the upcoming China-Tanzania Investment Forum scheduled for September 25 in Dar es Salaam, the bustling commercial hub of Tanzania.

Huang Zaisheng, Chairman of the Sinotan Industrial Park in Tanzania and coordinator of the forum, announced the event’s details during a press conference held in Dar es Salaam on Monday. He revealed that this forum, guided by the Chinese embassy in Tanzania, is a collaborative effort between the Tanzania Investment Center (TIC), the Tanzania Private Sector Foundation (TPSF), and the Confederation of Tanzania Industries (CTI).

Leading the delegation will be more than 100 economic and trade representatives, with key organizations like the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade Zhejiang Provincial Committee and the Jinhua Municipal People’s Government from Zhejiang Province, East China, at the forefront. These entities represent a diverse array of sectors, including pharmaceuticals, machinery and equipment, daily household products, and logistics services.

Huang emphasized that the primary objective of these Chinese investors is to establish lasting partnerships with Tanzanian government departments and businesses, marking a significant step towards furthering bilateral economic cooperation.

John Mnali, TIC’s Director of Investment Promotion, highlighted that China has consistently held the position of the largest investor in Tanzania. He expressed Tanzania’s eagerness to utilize this forum as an opportunity to explore investment prospects that call for collaboration with Chinese investors.

Leodegar Tenga, CTI Executive Director, echoed this sentiment, underscoring that China stands as an ideal partner for the development of Tanzania’s industrial economy.

Yang Zeyu, an attache in the economic and commercial sector of the Chinese embassy in Tanzania, emphasized the pivotal role that China has played as Tanzania’s primary source of investment. He stated, “The cement, ceramics, glass, and cables produced by Chinese companies in Tanzania have boosted Tanzania’s industrialization process.”

With anticipation building, the China-Tanzania Investment Forum promises to be a pivotal event in shaping the future of economic cooperation between these two nations. The convergence of Chinese investors and Tanzanian industrialists sets the stage for mutually beneficial partnerships that will contribute to Tanzania’s economic growth and development.
