Burgeoning Zimbabwean Talent KayC Pricosh Gains International Recognition

In the ever-evolving world of music, a fresh and exciting talent has emerged from Zimbabwe. Knowledge “KayC Pricosh” Chisinde, a rising artist in the genres of hip-hop and Afro-pop, is swiftly capturing international attention. KayC Pricosh’s journey to fame has been marked by captivating cover versions of popular songs by various artists, initially showcased on platforms such as TikTok and Instagram.

Some of his renditions include tracks like “Calm Down” by R&B sensation Rema, “Rush” by Nigerian Afro-pop artist Ayra Starr, and “People” by Cameroonian-American singer Libianca. These renditions garnered significant traction, propelling him into the spotlight. Subsequently, KayC Pricosh transitioned into creating his original compositions, receiving widespread acclaim that solidified his position in the musical landscape.

In an exclusive interview with The Southern African Times, KayC Pricosh shared insights into his musical journey. He revealed that music had been a lifelong passion, rooted in his early experiences singing in church and participating in the school choir. However, his most profound connection with music began during a challenging period in high school when he tragically lost his best friend. Overwhelmed by emotions, he turned to songwriting as a means to express himself, and this marked the genesis of his musical odyssey.

Despite his undeniable talent, KayC Pricosh expressed some disappointment regarding the lack of widespread recognition within Zimbabwe. Nevertheless, he found solace and support within the Zimbabwean music industry, where influential figures provided guidance and propelled his career forward.

For his growing fan base, KayC Pricosh promised a musical treat in the near future. He hinted at exciting collaborations with acclaimed artists from Zimbabwe and beyond, spicing up his upcoming releases. Notably, one of his recent releases, “Dusty,” is already available on all major platforms, with more tracks in the pipeline, waiting for the perfect moment to be unleashed.

KayC Pricosh’s breakthrough came when he won a TikTok challenge for “Mubayei,” a song by the talented Feli Nandi featuring The Unveiled. This victory earned him a coveted spot on the “Mubayei” remix alongside five other challenge winners, including Calvin Mangena, known for his contribution to the nationally embraced track “Ihulumende.”

The artist also proudly shared his collaboration with Joseph Paintsil, a Ghanaian footballer, on the track “Unbreakable,” which has been a hit on digital platforms. In June 2023, he ventured into the realm of movie soundtracks, composing for the Nollywood film “Denying Hope,” which featured acclaimed Nigerian actor Mike Ezuruonye.

Beyond his musical prowess, KayC Pricosh’s story adds an intriguing layer; he is a civil engineer by profession, having pursued his studies at Zhengzhou University in China. While civil engineering fulfills a lifelong dream, music remains his true passion.

In sum, Knowledge “KayC Pricosh” Chisinde is a young artist on an upward trajectory, impressing the music world with his talents and promising exciting collaborations on the horizon. His journey from Zimbabwe to international recognition is a testament to his dedication and creativity, inspiring hope for a bright future in the world of music.
