(The Southern African Times) – Rugby World champions South Africa confirmed two opponents for their three-game European tour in November next year.
SA Rugby announced the Springboks will play Scotland at BT Murrayfield in Edinburgh on November 13 followed by a repeat of the 2019 Rugby World Cup final against England at Twickenham on November 20.
The identity of the final opponent on the traditional November tour will be confirmed in due course. That match is scheduled to be played on November 6.
South Africa has not lost to Scotland more than a decade with their last defeat against them coming in October 2010.
The last meeting between the two sides was in 2018 and saw South Africa emerge 26-20 victors.
Meanwhile, South Africa will renew its rivalry with England at the venue where the World champions last picked up a win in 2014.
Their last visit there in 2018 ended in a narrow 12-11 defeat and just before that, South Africa defeated England 2-1 in a three-game home series.
This will be the first time in three years that South Africa will tour Europe. The side did not tour the continent last year due to the Rugby World Cup and this year’s schedule was cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic.
“Next year’s Tests will be the first time in three years the Springboks return to Europe, where the intense rivalry against tough opponents in different weather conditions will make for some very interesting Test match battles,” South Africa’s director of rugby Rassie Erasmus said.
